Season 44, Week 3
Jean
(Breath of Fire II)

The frog prince Ekaru Hoppe Jean may be what you'd think as a simple fairy tale mishap, but he’ll make sure that, fantastic origins aside, his powers will provide plenty of nightmare fuel to the soldier Cius. You might not think a frog could be a strong warrior, but Jean is a surprisingly competent status-slinger, despite his rather foppish upbringing and carefree attitude. A well-placed chanting of Death will spell a quick defeat for Cius, and given how unimpressive Cius’ sword slashes are, Jean will have plenty of turns to cast doom upon his opponent - not that he needs more than one. Cius may have been a lucky dueller to face Euram in round 1, but now that he’s facing a real threat, the poor human soon see how difficult fighting in the arena really is.

Well, beating the snot out of that fop Euram was certainly enjoyable, but now it's time for the expert prison guard to actually get serious about this tournament. Having seen the battle prowess of the beavers of Falena when they get going, he knows all too well that just because someone is a giant talking animal is no reason to take them lightly. No, Cius will be showing the utmost respect for the Frog Prince by giving this battle everything he has. With the his heavy armor, stout frame and strong sword arm, surely the guard can overtake the more elegant, but less powerful fencing style used by Jean. All he needs to do is muster up the willpower to fight though the aquatic prince's trademark death spell! It won't be simple, but Cius can do it!

An honorable fencing duel between a pair of noble if inept swordsmen. Cius is faster, Jean hits much harder. Both are fairly tough and require a good deal of physical punishment to take down.

Only one of them has instant death. Honorable duels are good and all, but Jean's been burned repeatedly by fighters who took advanage of his honestly to avoid his Death spell.

He can honorably apologize to Cius after he's dragged out of the arena and revived by an annoyed Lelei.
