While Nash enjoys success in Middle, it's only natural for Mia to follow in her hapless boyfriend's footsteps. And, if the victory against Bartre shows anything, it's that she's highly capable of putting dimwitted bruisers in their rightful place. Zell may come from a less prosaic world than the Fire Emblem axeman, but he has about the same IQ and strategical acumen as Bartre, while having a whole lot less raw power behind his blows. As such, applying her Cryo Shell spells to create an impenetrable barrier to Zell's drunken punches should be trivial. And with the speed advantage she enjoys, she can leisurely stall for doubleturns to apply a double Flameria, circumventing Zell's limit entirely and ensuring the win. Not that will be necessary, given how he probably won't even break through Mia's defense.

All right! Zell's knocked off a slow giant, and it's on to the next opponent this season - a slow scholar. Zell's always ready for some rough 'n tumble brawlin', and a frail mage with poor damage sounds like his type of match. Granted, Mia's Wind Cane option to cover for her horrid speed makes this somewhat interesting. Zell's not really an expert, but according to Quistis, even if Mia opts for her Wind Cane, she's still only mildly above average speed. If she wants to wait for a theoretical double turn to avoid the brutal might of Duel, she's in for a long wait. And hey, this'll be an excuse to use something other than Heel Drop/Booya for once! Once Zell limits Mia, he'll get to show off Dolphin Blow, Meteor Strike, and maybe even My Final Heaven to crush through Mia's Ice Shell. Now that's stylish!

It's a not-so-big secret that the Mia Ausa fan club will do anything for the comfort of their idol. Really, they're willing to go to great lengths. As many members of the fan club are magic users, they have many options to prevent anyone from harming Mia. Freezing, sleep, petrification, polymorphing (a favorite), and much more.
Surprisingly, Zell didn't face any magical incapacitation prior to the match. Instead, the Mia Ausa fan club had gone out of their way to invite him to a BBQ celebrating her latest victory. All it took was a mention of free hotdogs and he was there. Good times were had by all who attended. Only later did Zell realize that,
1. The latest win was over him.
2. The BBQ was scheduled at the same time as the match and he lost by failure to appear.
Hey, not all plots involve spectacular acts of violence. Sometimes, things turn out nicer with a gentler approach. Even though he lost, Zell felt like a winner on some level which would not be the case had he actually fought things out in the arena.
