Season 18, Week 1
Wan Fu
(Suikoden III)

Wan Fu is the kind of man whose hunger is never satisfied, but this week, he hungers not for food but for victory. His opponent should pose little challenge; Earnest is limited to normal attacks, and can't hope to deal the same kind of punishment as will come from Wan Fu’s Heavy Damage. Add in the fact that Wan Fu is much more evasive than his four-legged opponent, and all he needs is a few quick criticals. Superiority in this battle of strength will punch his ticket for a trip to the next round, while poor Earnest is left with a one-way visit to the glue factory.

In a way, Earnest is very similar to his opponent. Both share the unfortunate fate of being lost within their own cast, Earnest being perhaps the least notable of the 6 centaur knights in his game, and Wan sharing the stage with 107 other Stars of Destiny. They share similar fighting styles as well, both relying solely on physical attacks to win their battles. Luckily for Earnest, he has a slight speed and durability edge, which may be all he needs for victory in this match. Earnest should be able to win a pure slugfest, and finally gain some recognition.

It was a beautiful day in the DL, as people watched Earnest and Wan Fu square off.

...The people that couldn't afford the matches that didn't consist of one person smacking the other person around with a stick, and the other jabbing the other person with a stick.

Anyhow, as the boring match continued, a truly strange event happened.

As the crowd watched, a massive meteor sliced out of the sky, and crashed into the arena center. Both Wan Fu and Earnest managed to dodge out of it's devastating wake, but....unfortunatly, their luck wasn't as good as it seemed, at first.

For, the arena that this crashed into was the one situated over one of the darkest secrets of the DL, the Optional Superbosses Containment Area. As the crowd watch, stunned, Ozma rose up out of the pit and blasted Wan Fu into the dirt with a Doomsday spell, while an Omega Weapon pulped Earnest into the dusty ground with Terra Break.

It gets a little hectic from there. Suffice it to say that the arena was evacuated with....ah, minimal casualties, and the monsters were recontained with massive casualties. (On the monster's side, mostly. You'd be amazed how much trouble those monsters have killing bosses that are using their full, generally illegal in the arena, invincibility.)

Oh, the match? Well, Earnest died after Wan Fu, not that anyone really cared, so he was declared the victor.

It's going to take forever to revive him, though, they're having to scrape his remains off half the arena.
