Season 37, Week 2
Logg
(Suikoden 5)

It's true that the kind-hearted Logg isn't known for his cunning schemes or masterful plots. Unlike his lofty foe, Logg really has no greater goal in life than to make his wife proud, and to be a shining example to his daughter. And, with Lun fighting on in Middle, Logg has to perform at least as well as she does. Fortunately, Vinsfeld is exactly the kind of fight Logg's built for, with his toughness backed up by the plentiful healing of a Water Rune. Which means that Vinsfeld will discover, much to his dismay, that pure ideals are no match for a father's devotion.

Oh, the indignity. Ranked below his subordinates for years, forced to fight weaklings in the Duelling League's lowest division, brutally crushed by some kid in a pointy hat... truly, Vinsfeld must be a simmering cauldron of rage ready to explode. And his first hapless victim since his downgrade from Middle is a clueless fisherman who probably won't realize what hit him until the DL medics have pieced him together again - perfect. This means that the time has come for the rightful ruler of the world to take his place, and no obstacle will stand before Vinsfeld's PURE IDEALS this time!

An enterprising leader uses all his abilities and connections to win.

Does Vinsfeld count as an enterprising leader?

Probably not.

Actually, he doesn't really have abilities or connections.

What, then, is a leader to do?

---

Vinsfeld simply laughed.

The poor fool had turned and fled the moment he entered the arena!

Surely, this was a sign of things to come, of people finally and truly respecting Vinsfeld, the leader of Cocytus, as the most feared ruler of this, and all other, worlds! Nay, all other universes would fall to him! He would rule supreme!

"...darn it, Lun, I came running over, thinking you were dead after that explosion, only to find out that you've crashed a college or something into your opponent. Can't you at least keep your losses tidy?" Logg said, annoyed.

"Aw, c'mon, pop, you'd have done it yourself!" Lun yelled, annoyed.

"...well...there's...only one way to find out!" Logg yelled, as he hauled Lun after him.

Vinsfeld was still patting himself on the back when Balamb Garden fell on him.

Logg: 25
Vinsfeld Rhadamanthus: 26

All a matter of scale. If you remember, both these men were, at one time, in crafts that eventually crashed. Logg was able to do a daring jump into another ship before his "doom barge" hit the Hatred Fortress. Vinny, on the other hand, not only didn't get off the Heimdal Gazzo, he melted on the ship! I'm sorry, but Logg isn't Philly Cheesesteak cheese by the end of his ramperts, and that's how he wins. Now if you'll excuse him, Logg needs to enjoy a Vinny Cheesesteak...mmm...melted Odessa leader with a pinch of Pure Oreganos.
