Season 22, Week 5
Worker 8
(Final Fantasy Tactics)

Another crushing victory for Worker 8. Another mage, another life taken. Another helpless fleshly being trampled beneath the all-powerful iron foot, another side dish on the works. Princess flambè is about to be served to the judges as the aftermeal of Worker's doubtless championship. From here, another step, some more victims to oppress with robotic might and then the chance to reclaim the Heavy arena. Then, the robot master will begin his climb back to Godlike. The coming is nigh. Prepare yourself for the impending doom, greet the iron apocalypse and embrace the glorious masters of the future: Workers.

Many fighters have been Crushed, Compressed, and utterly Destroyed by the Steel Giant, but Marle WILL stop the tyranny of Worker 8 once and for all. Her ranged crossbow shots easily negate the junk box's counters, while her cheap, powerful healing will swing a slugfest to her advantage. Most importantly, the accurate and maaaaaybe not magical Provoke skill causes Confusion, Worker's sole status vulnerability. With Haste, Marle can snipe the sluggish robot's life away while repeatedly reapplying the status, preventing him from ever using his deadly Works. It's going to be a long and gruelling battle, but one where the Guardia princess is bound to triumph!

It definitely wasn't what anyone expected.

Worker 8's run through Middle was already being acclaimed as one of the weirdest in the Duelling League's history, between cooking his opponents and contributing (if indirectly) to one of the largest, most undignified brawls seen in the DL. And now, it was the finals.

Marle stood in the ring, definitely on her guard. Between what happened to Lo Wen (and herself shortly afterward) the week before, she wasn't entirely sure she WANTED to play this match out - it certainly wasn't something she was favored for. But giving up on the finals match... just didn't sit right with the Guardian princess.

"..."

"Yeah, I know it's probably going to be weird, but I've got to give it a shot, you know?"

"...?"

"Thanks, but I'll be okay. I've heard he's easy to confuse, so I can give it my best."

"..."

"Thanks, Crono. You always know just what to say."

The day of the match arrived without incident. Upon the insistence of some of the League's higher-ups (notably led by Piastol) Worker 8 was thoroughly inspected for any sort of foreign substances - or at least an attempt at inspection was made. The 'bot was hardly cooperative, and refused to allow the inspectors access. Since it wasn't actually a formal requirement, the inspectors allowed the bot to enter the arena without further incident.

And so the match began. It seemed perfectly normal at first, for all that Marle seemed outmatched in terms of raw power, and then... the princess turned her hind end towards the robot and slapped it a couple of times in her trademark Provoke attack - a frequent tool of the princess in her matches; the confusion on her opponent's face was usually quite helpful, and the roars of appreciation from the crowd didn't hurt either.

But this time, it didn't quite work as usual. Worker 8 did indeed stop, looking rather stunned for a moment, and then...

"Rump Roast... recipe confirmed."

"What was tha... oh noooooo!"

Worker 8 advanced on Marle quickly, batting aside the frantic bolts from her crossbow as he neared her position.

"Step 1. Tenderize meat."

Seizing the princess by her waist, Worker 8 hauled the blonde off the ground, turning her around as the stunned crowd watched in shock. The first resounding *SMACK* of his metallic fist into Marle's hindquarters resounded clearly throughout the arena, although the following six blows were definitely NOT audible due to the squalling of the now kicking-and-screaming Nadia. Around the third blow the crowd erupted in laughter, and it wasn't long after that when a blue-coated man with red hair leaped into the arena, raining blows all over the robot. The officials quickly charged into the arena, separating all three combatants rather quickly.

In the aftermath, it was clearly ruled that the match belonged to the robot. Even apart from the illegal interference, it was clear to the judges that Worker 8 was definitely in no danger of losing the match from the point at which the 'tenderizing' had begun.

As for Marle? Well, rumor has it that she STILL winces whenever she tries to sit down...

Marle (Nadia Guardia): 22

Marle realizes that her crossbow bolts bounce off the solid steel that is Worker 8 and realizes with some apprehension that this match is not going to be kind to her - whether or not Provoke is allowed.

Congrats Worker 8. Now you can be back where you belong. In Heavy.

ChichiriMuyo
It's a cruel twist of fate that Worker 8 even ended up in middle. Frankly, somebody should have handed him the title weeks ago to save his opponents some severe pain.

umm... Does slapping your butt trully inflict chaos upon machines? o_O
