Lucia's never had it easy. Secluded on the Blue Star since an age long gone, waiting for a time it could begin to heal its ancient wounds, attacked repeatedly by Zophar, forced to wander the world of Lunar while looking for traces of Althena in vain, her life has been a neverending struggle. But none of it dulled her will to press on, and it's that determination that will see her through the battle against the SeeD leader. Armed with a few attack spells and a healing litany, Lucia can slowly wittle down the indecisive Squall, rising to the top with a well-earned victory and perhaps a little more respect from those around her. After all, she deserves some slack from her suffering.

Squall Leonheart. Top-class mercenary and the man on his way to DL glory. While the SeeD leader may not be allowed to bring the absurd might of his junctions in the arena, there is no such restriction on his Lion Heart. In his skilled hands, the most powerful weapon from his world scores a critical hit every time he attacks. Few can stand up to that kind of offense for long, and Lucia is definitely not among them. Being slow, she has absolutely no chance to get by via her healing. Not that it matters: her damage is far too pathetic to avoid Squall's limit range. If Lucia is even lucky enough to hold her own against Squall for that long, Renzokuken will end the match with a bang.
SageAcrin It was a fierce battle.
Everything was calculated to the last decimal. Every nuance of what Squall had said in his entire life. Every strike Lucia had dealt, every spell she had cast, was closely examined.
Squall had an advantage based on his battle performance, but Lucia had a moment to shine there, and indeed, her life had been considered much more interesting.
And so, the judges made their decision.
Squall, as the larger failure, won the fail-off.
Sometimes, when you win, you lose.
Squall was seen after the match being comforted by Rinoa. This seemed to make him even more depressed.
It's okay, though. The gunblade can't fit in his mouth anyways.
Though, that did make him even more depressed.
People sailing under bridges, as such, should keep an eye out for late-night Squalls on the water.
