Season 31, Week 2
Vivi Ornitier
(Final Fantasy IX)

It’s time for everyone’s favorite black mage to make another run at the DL. And he couldn’t be happier about his first match, a friendly duel of magic with his good friend Eiko. This is what the DL is truly all about, friendly competitions with good sportsmanship and no hard feelings on either side, win or lose! But that doesn’t mean that Vivi is going to go easy on her. Nulling out all of her more powerful summons, the young mage is forcing Eiko to rely on Phoenix for damage, and it can’t hope to keep up with the pain Vivi’s Flares can lay down. It’ll be a classic showdown of Black Magic vs. White, and Vivi is going to do all of his fellow practitioners of the hurting magics proud!

A classic battle, this one. Summoner vs. Magician. Secondary Love Interest vs. Plucky Friend. In all of Gaia's existence, its world never knew a battle this interesting (After all, who cares about a lecherous monkey-thing fighting a transvestite?). And when the fight is joined Eiko has a lot of things going for her. Her Phoenix summon will be her most important attack, as her opponent nulls all her other elements. However, she has an entire arsenal of healing, buffing and status magic to use as well, and she can halve or null as many elements as Vivi. Opening up with Reflect and playing the buffing game would be her best bet. Time to take out the trash for this summoning tyke.

Two children.

Long time friends, who helped save the world together.

Who trusted one another.

How could these two ever fight?

"There, now hold still." Eiko said.

Then took a deep breath, and quickly shoved Vivi out of the ring.

"Huh? Why did you...oh. Hey, Eiko, that wasn't fair!" "So?" Eiko said, shrugging, as she ran out of the arena.

"...Zidane, weren't you going to teach Vivi to not listen too much to what Eiko says?" Amarant said, as he watched the "battle" commence. "I mean, after the time she talked him into hitting the power lines with lightning magic and blew out all power to the arena for a day?"

"Mmmm?" Zidane said, reading a magazine. "Oh. I guess I haven't had enough free time. Sorry."

"...she stalks you all the time. You could have at least asked her to stop getting Vivi into trouble." Amarant added.

"Look, would you stop bothering me? I'm trying to enrich myself with this magazine." Zidane said, studying intently.

"...would you stop reading "Fayt's Bridge Bunnies Go Wild" and actually listen to what I'm saying?" Amarant yelled.

"Huh?" Zidane said, engrossed in his magazine.

"...oh never mind." Amarant said. "Maybe I can talk Freya into teaching Vivi how to be a man." He added with a sigh.

Vivi vs. Eiko, being from the same game, can actually go either way, Eiko has too many advantages, though a pumice piece + Doomsday does healing + damage, Eiko can have one as well, With superior speed Eiko can summon Madeen, and Vivi's defeated, flare, Eiko's defeated, but Eiko has healing so theres allready a strong imbalance, but an even match nonetheless.

Eiko can't do enough damage fast enough to beat Vivi, and Reflect isn't exactly effective against a double casting of Doomsday.

Which is the lecherous monkey-thing and which is the transvestite? Because Vivi looks like neither and Eiko looks like a little of both.
