Season 41, Week 2
Guy
(Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals)

After his last brutal beating at the hands of Sacaen Swordmaster Guy, Guy of Tanbel does not want another name battle. But he'll get that this week, as he squares off against Luke fon Fabre. The Fonon Swordsman's best friend is also named Guy, and sports blonde hair and an exceptional(ly bad) way with the ladies. Unlike the last time Guy got into a name battle, though, he's the superior fighter. Much like his Tales counterpart, he's a better fighter than Luke. Both stronger and tougher, he boasts nearly every advantage in this exciting duel. What doesn't do Luke in is Guy's superior abilities with a blade nor his excellent defense, but his IP attacks. From healing to a huge burst of damage late in the fight, they give Guy the flexibility and the extra offense needed to put away a stout warrior like Luke.

He went from bratty, imperious nobleman to justice-seeking hero. The new and improved Luke fon Fabre’s back to kick some ass! The charming, red-haired Tales of the Abyss main has never been in the DL before, but he wishes to reproduce the successes of his predecessors in this strange duel setting. And his first opponent, will be… Guy!?!? That doesn't sound good... well, namesakes aside, he's not facing his great friend Guy Cecil, but a generic swordsman from the Lufia world - which will certainly ease Luke's mind some. A slower fighter is more suited to Luke's fighting style, and in a swordfight to the death, the one with seventh fonons and other such magics on his side will probably be the winner, gimmicky IPs be damned. Not a bad start for a formerly insufferable spoiled brat turned hero.

When Luke's guilt tripping for the thousand and first time, he's not going to dare draw a blade against his best friend. Hell, he's not going to attack anyone with the same name. He'll have a great discussion with Tear about what he's feeling, but fighitng? No way, nope, nada. It's not happening.

Guy: 28
Luke fon Fabre: 21
