Less important than the Middle Championship up for grabs this week is the clash of ideals embodied in the final match of the division. As a holy bird and servant of the God Pacalon, Peter sees Canas' choice to use dark magic as something of an abomination. Mere mortals like the druid cannot know the the true nature of the primal dark powers they wield - not as as intimately as Peter does, at least - nor should they. However, the legendary phoenix is aware that Canas himself is a good man, albeit misguided. Thus, Peter will offer Canas the chance to surrender peacefully and recant his decision to pledge himself to unholy powers. If that doesn't work, there's always the option of sending the tiny man flying with a mighty flap of wings and coincidentally picking up a title belt at the same time.

The gentle scholar Canas face one last fight that shall be a feat to remember: the might of his dark magics will go against a legendary phoenix, a being well-known for its own strength. And, to the druid's surprise, he is the one with an edge here - Peter, while effectively immortal, cannot take advantage of his resurrection in a one-on-one duel, and his own offense will be his downfall, as every strike will be followed by Canas healing himself with Nosferatu. In time the phoenix, unable to keep himself healed, will simply be whittled down to nothing. A strange fight, but the result is rather straight-forward: with the parasitic healing of Nosferatu to keep his edge, Canas has this in the bag. And his efforts will be richly rewarded: that Middle belt is just within reach.

Peter's rebirth this season burned bright and hard, rather fitting for the Phoenix who devoted his life to battling Zeon and his minions. Queen? A pile of ash consumed by unrelating attacks. Karin? No more than a memory, torn in half by a single critical from Peter's razor sharp claws. Lute? Hahaha. A little girl who relied on fire magic to take down an immortal. No matter how many times she attempted to burn Peter, the magic simply slid off his skin.
Canas, though. Canas may have been a hero and an ally of those who seek justice, but his magics are as dark as Zeon. Nosferatu is especially cruel to Peter- it sucks the regenerative powers that are Peter's birthright and uses it to heal whatever damage inflicted by claw or beak. No matter how many times Peter rose from horrendous burns and wounds inflicted by Canas's accursed Zeon-blessed spells, Canas was there to suck the life out of him. Thus the revival of the Phoenix ended not in a blaze of glory, but a in crumpled talking bird dead on the arena floor, being studied by someone completely without malice, only interested in winning and learning the fascinating secret of Peter's magical regeneration.
