Season 55, Week 1
Ryudo
(Grandia 2)

You've got to have some sense of humor to take some situations. After all, Ryudo's skills as a Geohound shouldn't have to be tested via honorable things such as clobbering dimwitted girls who wear their bathrobes as casual wear. Granted, that's probably an improvement compared to, say, the rags Elena wears, but that says nothing. Oh well, it's no big deal, and Ryudo earns his penny by mission anyway. Given how frail this Maya ditz seems to be, the Geohound is unlikely to need more than slamming her twice with Sky Dragon Slash for the win. All in a hard day's work for the bearer of Valmar's Horn, and it's bound to bring a decent dinner for him and Skye. The only way it could be better would be if it made Elena shut up.

She may not have the mouth to stand up to the wise-cracking Ryudo verbally, but make no mistake, Maya has more than enough power to take the mercenary - if only after several turns. The mercenary may be an accomplished swordsman who fights with a talking bird, but Maya fights with a giant elemental force of nature. With her Origin Rivas providing her plenty of healing, Maya has the perfect strategy against the resources-light Ryudo. While her durability isn’t great, Ryudo’s damage is fairly average and his speed edge is fairly marginal; Maya should have few problems outlasting any significant damage Ryudo can put out, giving her free opportunities to blast him into the dust, especially with a Mystic Arte or Gospel in play.

superaielman
Ryudo specializes in putting young women in their place and high grade physical attacks, both of which are of great use against Maya. The impressionable young lass is perky, sweet, and had no real love interest.

Five minutes of Ryudo's best quotes worked their magic, as she left the arena giggling in his arms. Of course, then Ryudo ran into Millenia and Elena and got pummeled, but that's a small price to pay for a win.
