Season 8, Week 4
Nina Wyndia
(Breath of Fire II)

After a slew of impressive Duelling League victories, Nina can almost taste an unprecedented double-upgrade, but she'll have to focus hard to have a chance at it. Kanon can outspeed her, but that doesn't faze the black-winged Wyndian. If Kanon goes for damage, she leaves herself wide-open to the ever-powerful Death. If Kanon goes for status protection, her attack power becomes laughable; and Nina intends to aggravate that situation with her own casting of Pwr Down! Either way, Nina Wyndia is looking like a lock for her second finals match in a row.

Fellow Wild ARMs heroine Virginia scored a surprise win against the frog-prince Jean last week. This week, Kanon's aiming to do the same with one of Jean's comrades. Once again, it's brutal speed versus good ol' Death. Fortunately for Kanon, Nina's not built to take physical abuse for very long and lacks the parasitic healing of the cyborg's previous opponent, making her easy fodder for a high-level Gat if Kanon can build up the FP in time. She'll have to take full advantage of her lightning speed to do so, though, as the exiled Wyndian princess only needs to score one good hit to win.

And Death claims victumn number 7 in a row. This just proves that no matter how boring or how cheap a move is, if it works, it works, and Nina doesn't care either way.

Nina Wyndia: 20
Kanon: 14

Genocide Heart
Nina casts Death. Death fizzles against Kanon's boss form. Kanon proceeds to pound Nina in the ground.
