For Rune Walsh, the score reads: one troublesome claw-wielding speedster down, one to go. Indeed, his current opponent bears a number of similarities to his previous one, and Rune has no reason to doubt that the result will be the same. Once again, his foe is vulnerable to magic in general and has no defence against his greatest weapon, the death-dealing Negatis spell, and there is nothing Rikku can do to stop him from unleashing it. Rune still has a lot to fight for this season, and with a chance to match the accomplishments of both his old friend Alys and his sworn rival Justin, the Esper has no reason to hold back.

Her last win gave Rikku a winning record in Middle, and she's ready to keep the streak alive. Unlike her last two opponents, Rune prefers a magical assault over the bruising styles of Cecile and Barret. Like Cecile and Barret, though, Rune has no form of healing whatsoever - something Rikku can easily take advantage of. Once again, Rikku will slowly whittle her opponent down as she keeps herself alive with Al Bhed potions. And once again, Rikku will find herself fighting for a DL championship - only this time, it will be one division higher than the last.

Rikku, as she headed for the arena, was very confident in her victory. Having packed a chock full of Petrify Grenades subtlely under the sight of the RPGDL Rule Lawyering Squad, she knew that there was nothing Rune could do.
Rune himself was waiting intently at the arena, showing very little patience towards this match. Yet another annoying lightning ball wasn't something he was eager to fight, seeing how the last week's bout turned out for him. Getting beat up by Feena isn't a pretty sight even for a mighty Esper, even if Justin got both silenced and barbecued beforehand.
When Rikku showed up, a cold wind began to blow. They stared at each other. Rune sighed and hung his head. "Let's just get this over with". Rikku smiled light-heartedly. "Yup! I'm going to win this so easily you won't even know what hit you!", she said in a ridiculously high-pitched tone that annoyed Rune even more.
As she said that, she began to reach for her items bag... and felt a strange swish of wind around her. Eh, no matter! This is so going to be fun, she thought. And she grabbed her items bag... searching for her Petrify Grenades.... but they were nowhere to be found. She started getting desperate, sweating and shivering. Where were the Grenades?? She then shook her bag down the floor, dropping all her items and searching relentlessly for her beloved items. Then, she looked up to the side of the arena.... and saw a ninja with the RPGDL Enforcement Squad insignia on its back. Her eyes widened.
Rune smiled wickedly and looked at the thief lady with a gleam in his eyes. "You don't seem so confident now, eh?". Rikku, desperate, started giggling like a stupid girl and scratched her head, sweating more than ever. "Errr... will you take it easy on me? Pretty pleeeeeeeease?".
Rune smiled once again, and muttered calmly: ".... you must be kidding me". Then, the Esper closed his eyes and then started chanting ancient words of power.
Rikku, startled and anguished, ran away from the arena as fast as she could. As she stepped out of the arena's bounds, a gigantic pillar of flame engulfed the Al Bhed thief, roasting her to an unrecognizable mess. Rune then smirked and walked towards the charred body of Rikku and meneated his head, sighing. "That was pathetically easy", he said, and left the RPGDL Arena with his head held high.
