Season 19, Week 3
Kanon
(Wild Arms 2)

With speed, power, and deadly grace, Aisha Bernadette advances to the second round to face...another technologically superior warrior. However, aside from that coincidence, the two are as similar as night and day. Kanon is a mercenary, Lucca a scientist. Kanon is a fighter, Lucca a mage. Kanon likes combat close, Lucca prefers to fight long range. Kanon is stupidly fast, Lucca a total slug. Kanon makes things die in an instant, Lucca relies on a worthless status that disappears when the target is damaged. Kanon will advance to the next round, Lucca will lie beaten and bruised in the arena. Yup, night and day...

The girl genius Lucca already scorched a Chrono Cross weakling in her walk towards a Middle championship. This time, she's up for an actual challenge, where the power of science has to beat ... the power of science! The technological wonder that is Kanon is speedy, strong and quite skilled with her Gatling techniques, which can rend flesh in a matter of seconds. But her lack of magical resistance will be costly against Lucca, who can send the bounty hunter stright to oblivion with a Hypno Wave followed by the almighty Flare. The mighty Lucca Ashtear shall win yet another battle of brains against brawn!

Lucca, being an inventive genius, decided to dismantle Kanon, rather than fight her.

She stayed up all night, working on blueprints and inventions, and finally came up with a novel portable Electromagnetic Pulse weapon that would knock Kanon unconcious with one shot.

Then, as she was walking to the arena, after staying up 39 hours, she tripped on a large stick that, for some strange reason, was laying in the hallway, and that she hadn't seen a few moments ago.

And promptly fell, smashing the device to bits.

Lucca promptly went to the nearest phone, called in a forfeit, and slept for 21 hours.

As for Kanon, standing in a doorway nearby, she smiled, a rare event for her. "Inventiveness is one way to get ahead, but being willing to do what needs to be done, no matter what, is worth far more."
