Season 27, Week 1
Camellia
(Arc the Lad 4)

This pretty flower has her heart set on a Middle Championship, and nothing is going to stop her from reaching that goal. The first step won't be difficult - disposing of her first opponent will be a pleasure for Camellia, not a challenge. While the deimos has to admit that Lilly is a pretty name, the girl herself irritates Camellia. What kind of spoiled, egocentric little brat seriously expects everyone to treat her like a queen, as though the world revolves around her? The world clearly revolves around Camellia! The beautiful, plant-like deimos will have to put a stop to the Terror of Tinto, and her powerful healing and multiple status attacks will leave the inferior flower wilted.

In all of Tinto, there is one rule that is observed above all others: don't get in Lilly Pendragon's way. That's right, she's back for another go at the Duelling League, and this time she isn't going away without a Middle title. Her first opponent? A vapid, selfish, and generally stuck-up deimos who gives women everywhere a bad name. Even ignoring Camellia's utter lack of speed and physical durability, there's not a darn thing she can do to keep Lilly from pounding her into the dirt. But hey, you never know when a few pounds of mulch will come in handy, and Lilly certainly isn't complaining about having that much more time to clean up and prepare for the next match.

In a battle of two female contenders, oddly enough, the deciding factor here is none other than Pokemon Logic.

Lilly is a Fire type. She has a hot tempered personality, has good physical attacks like most Fire types, and even has the Sword of Rage rune to boost this fact up.

Camellia is a Grass type. She's, well, a plant tribe of Deimos, and such. A Grass type that uses Ground type moves to boot, meaning no STAB.

So both are hitting each other's weaknesses...except Lilly's attacks are physical, and most Grass' aren't fond of that, and she's getting a STAB. Camellia can't say the same thing in return.

Camellia: 17
Lilly Pendragon: 48

Camellia won her match with ease. Well, Lilly did chop a good bit off of her with her opening strikes, but after that the flowery deimos simply cast Power Down and laughed at the Tinto girl. It was a complete slaughter. But as anyone who knows Lilly can attest, she doesn’t like losing. At all.

Should it have surprised anyone that she appealed the result to the DL court? No, it shouldn’t have. But it definitely surprised some when a highly distracted and very oddly behaving Judge Mewtwo ruled in her favor on the grounds that Camellia is a plant and thus not allowed to compete (X-death has started a coalition to file a class-action lawsuit opposing the ruling). Not one person could see why the normally reasonable and serious Mewtwo would make such an odd ruling…

Its amazing how easy it is to bribe a psychic kitty when you have a massive supply of catnip.
