Season 32, Week 1
Gafgarion, Gaff
(Final Fantasy Tactics)

In this match, Gafgarion doesn't need anything but his Dark Knight skills. With his usual armor he's tanky enough to take Rand's blows, and Night Sword keeps him healthy in a slugfest. Nothing that Rand can do will really make any difference in this battle - his physical game is not bad, but not enough, really. Healing will help postpone the match, but won't make a difference one way or the other, and he's not doing any damage to Gafgarion in the meantime - leading to his eventual demise when he runs out of MP. It's been a while since Gafgarion's been in, but this season may well be a memorable example of the power of a Dark Knight - starting with Rand's corpse for a souvenir.

Rand Marks is your typical big guy with a heart of gold - wait, he's not a guy, he's an armadillo. Regardless, he is a kind and strong fighter, which should alone present a bane to the likes of the rogueish Gaff Gafgarion. And Rand has a lot more to offer - his tough-as-nails build can endure insane amounts of physical punishment, which will brutalize Gaff's mediocre parasitic healing, and Rand himself is a skilled healer. Alternating castings of trustworthy Cure 4s and healthy doses of knuckle bashing, the armadillo from Farm Town can easily outlast Gafgarion. Not that beating a scoundrel better known for dying to a single spell from your average FFT generic mage takes effort.

Have you ever seen a large, armored mammal capable of rolling into a ball get spiked abruptly into the air?

The threat of this loomed over the match, as Night Sword could do exactly that, as the blade smashed from below.

There was only one thing to be done.

"Aye, look at that! Gaf-agarion has-a blasted past the set score, despite his opponent's best wishes! Aye, ragazzo, this has been a brilliant battle!" Morrie called out, announcing the play-by-play of the battle. "But now, Gaff has won it all! But look, he will not stop! Aye, will he go for a world record now!?"

"...whose bright idea was it again? To just set the match up with a giant pinball machine and let Gaff use Night Sword to maneuver Rand around in it? What kind of a match is that!?" Hahn asked the other judges.

Bowser pointed at Lexis.

Lexis pointed at Ershin.

Ershin pointed at Worker 8.

Worker 8 simply danced.

"...oh, never mind. This was less boring anyways." Hahn shrugged.
