Whee! One former comrade down, and another one steps up to the plate! Gau isn’t going to do any better against Sharon than Mua did, though. She’ll be all ‘whack’ and ‘wham’ and ‘whoosh’ and he’ll be all ‘ouch’ and ‘argh’ and ‘ohgodmakeitstop!!!!’, and then she’ll be all ‘whoo-hoo I win’! Having nifty little trinkets like the Wind Rune to work with really puts Sharon leagues ahead of the sourpuss kobold, and being just plain better than him at straight-up fighting is just insult to the injury. As if it wasn’t already painfully obvious from their time in the war, Sharon is going to prove that even a trainee Dragon Knight is better than some common mercenary any day in the week!

Well, isn't that a hoot. After dispatching the perky and obnoxious little Seraphita, the literal underdog of Duke's mercenary gang has to deal with -yet another- loud brat. One of his fellow Stars of Destiny, none the less. How silly. This should be a straight slugfest to its core, and Gau is quite skilled with his halberd - more than enough to handle a screaming trainee, that's for sure. Even if she holds a Wind Rune in hand, it won't be enough to stave off the mutt's cleverly placed stabs, much less guarantee her a win. Truth be told, Gau isn't that fond of hyperactive girls, and felling this brat is a job the mongrel has no qualms against.

After his smashing success against Seraphita, Gau was ready to use his new technique on more challenging opponents. Facing off against Sharon, Gau knew he would have to get the drop on her to make it work this time.
As soon as the bell sounded the start of the match, the kobold was off like a rocket, leaping towards the young girl with a vicious howl…only to be rather stunned as he rammed his face right into her shield. Within moments, things got even more confusing for the startled Gau as Sharon dropped her spear and quickly tied his mouth shut with a length of rope, and moved on to practically hogtieing the poor man just a moment later.
Leaving her opponent helpless and tied up in the middle of the ring, Sharon accepted her victory with grace and decorum…and then went spastic and starting jumping around whooping and hollering about how she was the best.
Applauding his protégé’s efforts, Futch came into the ring to cut the ropes off of Gau, chuckling as he helped the bewildered kobold up. “Piece of advice to you, Gau. Before you try jumping on someone like some kind of wild animal, make sure they aren’t trained to subdue ornery dragons first, okay?”

When it comes down to it, Gau is STILL nothing more than a Suikoden Kobold. This factor alone gives Sharon the edge in everything that matters, proving yet again that Suikoden and Canines do not mix.
