Season 38, Week 2
Jade Curtiss
(Tales of the Abyss)

Oh? What's this? A young man seems to want to throw his life away by facing Jade the Necromancer? What a laughable turn of events! A wind-magic user, as well! Hah! No matter what kind of magic or abilities Ivan may have up his sleeve, Jade will have an easy time countering them. Despite Ivan's seeming advantage with the silence and blind statuses, Jade will simply shrug off of his attacks with equipment that resists Ivan's main attribute: Wind. Along with this, Jade still has plenty of time to get an attack off before Ivan will have a chance to cast any of his spells. If Ivan chooses to Silence him first, Jade will decimate him with a Thunder Lance or Impaling Heaven. Likewise, if Ivan tries to Blind him, Jade will cast Meteor Storm and send Ivan packing! No matter what, Jade Curtiss shall have no trouble defeating Ivan, no matter how terrible he may be.

The Jupiter adept Ivan has had a long absence from the RPGDL. Now he's returned, and facing one of the league's newest entrants is a heck of a way to get back into the swing of things! The Necromancer Jade Curtiss is a devastatingly powerful magus, with a host of fonic artes and strike artes at his disposal. Yet Ivan has no fear - his excellent agility and arsenal of Djinni will allow him to overcome anything Jade sends his way. In fact, a quick Bind psynergy will silence Jade, preventing him from fielding his powerful Meteor Storm spell right off the bat. Stuck with just his strike artes, Jade will be at the mercy of Ivan's Smog Djinn, which will blind the fonic artist, preventing him from landing a single strike with his lance. From there, a few Shine Plasma blasts will send the elder colonel reeling, propelling Ivan to a victory his cast hasn't tasted in ages.

"Such impudence! Like a small child frolicing in a perilous swamp." Jade noted, as he walked into the arena.

"...what?" Ivan said, confused. He hadn't studied on the League much, but...

"Oh, yes, my name shall be engraved upon your very soul, you know." Jade added, smirking.

"...that...but you aren't...there has to be..." Ivan really hadn't studied on the league much, but everyone knew that line...

"Well, shall we get started? I have more important things to do." "But...you're...you're not in this rank!" Ivan replied weakly. "Why, of course I am. Don't you know anything?" Jade smirked. "...there's some mistake. I'm going to ask the judges about this!" Ivan, frustrated, walked over the judges box.

No mistake. He was fighting who he was supposed to.

Frustrated, Ivan left the arena to complain. A Middle? Fighting a Heavy? That couldn't possibly be fair!

It wasn't until much later that he learned his mistake.

He was fighting a totally different arrogant magician.

"Jade. You don't always have to break the minds of everyone, you know." Luke noted, as Jade walked out of the arena, victor by ringout.

"Oh, my. Are you saying I did something wrong? I just said some stylish lines." Jade replied, smiling. "...never mind. Geez, you're always like this." Luke sighed.

Later reports indicate that Lezard Valeth plans on filing suit for illegal use of catchphrases, naturally, but that's nothing Jade can't handle...

As for Ivan, he vowed to read more about the Duelling League.

Naturally, he got distracted by something more interesting to him within two minutes.
