Season 50, Week 1
Koromaru
(Persona 3: The Journey)

The denizens of Port Island continue their march through the DL's ranks this week, this time with team pet Koromaru. Koromaru brings a new strategy to the table, forgoing the bottomless healing of the other SEES members in favor of superior durability, agility, and, most importantly, adding potent Mudo spells to the mix. With these tools, plus his native intelligence, Guy and his limit strategies should pose no threat at all. Koromaru will have no trouble getting the drop on the hulking slugger, and with his agility, durability, and High Counter, the clever mutt can apply as many Mudo spells as needed to, shall we say, put Guy to sleep.

How do you best slaughter a Persona 3 fighter? Hitting a weakness does it quite nicely, and Guy just so happens to have a holy sword on hand for the task. And oh look, Koromaru is weak to holy attacks! Bad news for the little doggy, as Guy's physical is fearsome even before it hits a crippling weak point. Maxim's friend and steady swordsman is as tough as they come, being a match for Koro in toughness even before his healing IPs and protective skills are put in place. Guy's warrior spirit means he doesn't have the usual fighter's problem with status attacks either, meaning Koro can't get around Guy's overwhelming strength.

Gatewalker
Koromaru really could have done any number of things going into this fight. He could have acted cute, trying to get Guy off guard long enough to take him down. He could have used all his canine hunter's instincts to go right for the throat and attack ferociously. He could have talked all his dog buddies into filling the arena with barks and howls to demoralize his human opponent.

Or he could just go with spamming Mudoon until Guy fell over dead.

The straight forward approach isn't always the best idea, but this time it seems to have worked out pretty well.
