Season 51, Week 4
Bowman Jean
(Star Ocean: The Second Story)

Hellllllooooooo, ladies. Dr. Jean has a perscription for all the women out there- watch a Bowman Jean fight. It isn't often that a complete package of brains, looks, and martial arts comes together like this. Long, tapered fingers that normally provide pleasure and relief will be put to tragically effective use, as Bowman crushes Kyra under a wall of explosive and poisonous pills. Muscles that provide aid and comfort to all who seek it shall be unleashed in all their power, to dispatch Kyra with a series of devastating hits from a Sakura Attack combo. Healing? Kyra can't hope to match Bowman's regenerative pills. This is all speculative, as it's doubtful that little esper girl is going to do anything besides giggle madly at the gorgeous hunk of man, run straight into Bowman's arms and look into the face of a -true- healer.

The semifinals are nothing new to Kyra by any stretch of the imagination, so it was to the benefit of all that she spared the Dueling League another version of Bowman's recently hired press agent pimping herself out. The quietly strong Esper magician prefers to let her record and skillset speak for itself. Strong magic, plentiful healing and no glaring weaknesses will make Bowman's crazy pharmacy skills irrelevent. It won't take a medical degree (did Bowman even GO to school? Seriously, the guy's press release is that of a perpetual frat bum) to pick the winner in this match, though it may take a whole lot of advanced medical technology to nurse Bowman back to health once Kyra's finished dissecting him for Esper-based scientific research... or out of boredom, whichever ends up applying in the end.

"Begin!" boomed the announcer.

Kyra noticed a oddly wistful look on Bowman's face. "Something the matter?" she asked.
"Oh. I'm OK; it's that you reminded me of my wife." Bowman responded.
"Really. Tell me about it."
"I'd like to. Aren't we supposed to be dueling?"
"Oh that can wait. I want to hear about her."

So they chatted. About Nineh, university, Esper training, the Algo system, and so on. For over an hour. This did not sit well with some of the spectators. They came to see a fight dammit and they voiced their displeasure by throwing various fruits and vegetables. After Bowman took a hit from a pineapple, Kyra cast Warla on them both to ward off further bruises. A grateful Bowman threw the match, appreciative of such kindness as they walked off to continue their conversation.

One could also argue that Kyra doesn't have to leave the ring to cut down hecklers while Bowman does. They're not of such violent disposition to turn readily to such tactics though.

Bowman Jean: 12
Kyra Tierny: 33

I had a really long writeup in mind, but couldn't finish. In summary, Bowman learns why the first three letters of esper are ESP when he eats an EiaP from Kyra. Then Rune splats him with Legeon in revenge for season 34. There was also some stuff involving Delita, Mariabelle, and Zidane as a judge. I shall leave the rest to your imaginations.
