Season 52, Week 1
Belenus
(Valkyrie Profile)

Belenus could hardly contrast more with his opponent. A refined nobleman defined by his compassion, his swordsmanship is defined by efficent, deadly strokes. Extreme Void lacks the noise and fury of the other Einherjar's finishing blows, sure, but makes up for it in sheer power and elegance. His opponent, meanwhile, is largely flash with very little substance, flurries of mechanical marvels and ludicrously over the top drilling attacks that seem built merely as visual fancies more than anything else. Naturally, such wasted effort in a fighting style make Flay considerably slower than Belenus, nevermind that he has to waste his precious first turn on a needlessly flashy powerup. No, Belenus will win this match simply by being himself, a calm and quick buildup to PWS followed by a decisive Extreme Void while Flay is busy channeling raw lightning into some ridiculous twenty-foot jumping drill maneuver that wouldn't even badly scar Belenus if the Defender of Justice actually managed to execute it in time. Not that Belenus minds, of course.

Justice wins! The most heroic alchemist to ever grace the halls of Al-Revis Academy is ready to demonstrate the strength of his justice-powered fury in the arena this week! In his opponent, the noble warrior Belenus, he senses a kindred spirit! Yes, here is a man who understands what it means to fight evil! But Flay can not afford to go easy on him, oh no! After all, Flay has a busy schedule, between cutting class, saving the world, and taking it over so that he can breed a new generation of superheroes, and an extended visit to the nurse's office would be quite a devilish obstacle to this noble curriculum! As such, Flay will give it his all against this noble Einherjar! With impressive physical defense and the ability to block physical attacks, Flay will easily weather the attacks of Belenus' far less heroic-looking sword, while the repeated attacks of his infamous, justice-dispensing Buster Star will provide Flay with all the justice-bringing offence he needs! Watch out, Middle, for in the form of Flay, you have met your most dangerous adversary!

Taishyr
Belenus had studied his opponent well. He knew the techniques and flashy displays his opponent put on, and he knew that his own talent could see him through.

Well, except for one hitch.

"Amazing! So, your sword itself possesses the transformational capabilities... I had thought it a bizarre sort of magic!" Belenus exclaimed. Flay laughed.

"Indeed! In fact, observe its true capability!"

And then Flay Screwdriver'd Belenus, felling him.

MORAL OF THE STORY: It's all well and good to say that you won't be distracted by an opponent's antics, but make sure that you actually won't be before attending the match.
