Season 57, Week 2
Roan
(Grandia 2)

Roan has had quite a bad break as far as the arena goes. No wins, a downgrade to Middle, as well as a rather long waiting period. But now, the wait is over and he’s ready to burst back onto the scene like a True Dragon Rise! Black Wizard won Light last season, so it’s the perfect opportunity for Roan to show people that he’s not a complete screw-up, since he’s got a lot going for him. He’s got some serious speed and he puts out quite a bit more damage than his small frame would suggest. Black Wizard doesn’t stand a chance against such a blistering assault, so Roan’s speed will more come in handy for catching his cowardly behind as he tries runs away in the arena. This season should go quite well for Roan, allowing him to put in a grand performance more worthy of his noble origins.

It seems being such an unpleasant person has gotten the Black Wizard quite far in its endeavors - far enough for a new field of competition. In this new field of battle, a king might seem intimidating at first, true, but this is no Edgar - Roan's a weak little boy, and nothing that can stand up to the might of XXXX or even a powerful NUKE. The little kid really can't take it, or dish it out - even the relative squishiness of the Black Wizard's frailer mortal frame won't provide the royal brat a single opportunity to strike back against his devastating magical offensive array, as the painful little child has nothing to capitalize on the great magician's few weaknesses. An easy win for the arcane mage; barely worth his time to worry about, and befitting his meteoric rise through the DL proper!

Bardiche
When you command the very tapestries of reality and can bend the laws of physics to your will, you tend to feel all powerful.

But when someone pulls a massive golden hammer out of an absurdly small backpack, you don't start thinking, "Hey, could I do that with my magic?"

You also don't wonder how he did that, or whether that golden hammer is even practical as a weapon.

No, you run. Like hell.

Black Wizard knew all this. For some reason, it never occured to him that running was a Pretty Good Idea.

Splat.

Roan: 34
Black Wizard: 13

Black Mage wins this, because he has NUKE, and lives in the vicinity of Japan. I'll allow you to draw the parallels there.
