Season 59, Week 4
Guy Cecil
(Tales of the Abyss)

Well, at least for one match, it matters not if Guy's opponent is a man or woman, as clearly just looking at Meganium only a Royal Crown Pokemaster would be able to tell the sex offhand. This leaves Guy free to do what he does best, which is slice and dice in a most elegant fashion. Guy's got speed on his side, and his combos should put a serious hurt on Meganium. The obvious goal here is to build up to a Razing Phoenix for the firey finisher on the hapless grass pokemon. Of course, with skills like Guy's, who needs to be a phoenix when you can just win it all the first time?

This is an interesting battle for the second grass starter. Guy's purely physical swordsmanship plays right into Meganium's bulky stature and defensive game, but the speed is a bit of a concern. His key skills, Reflect and the lowly Growl of all things, will take the sting right out of Guy's sword. Strategic use of the healing Synthesis skill can keep Meganium afloat. And all the while, he'll be whittling his opponent's life down bit by bit. It's the classic contest of speed against endurance, and like the tortoise before him, Meganium intends to be the slow and steady one still going at the end.

And this week, in an effort to provide that, YES, man can truly be victorious over dinosaurs, Guy got himself squashed by the grass... dino... thing called Meganium.

Yeah, you'd think Swords would be effective against Grass Monsters, but a Solar Beam is effective against everything.

Most importantly, it has range.

And so the match ended in Guy doing a rather impressive impression of Team Rocket. Meowth has gone on to sue.
