Season 44, Week 2
Meredy
(Tales of Eternia)

Baiba! After upgrading to Middle so many ages ago, Meredy finally gets to test out her skills on an unsuspecting new division. While she may be quite the skinny stunner, Meredy can pack a surprising punch. Her spell Destiny is a shot of quick-charging, far-blasting, area affecting damage; perfect for getting around Fire Emblem counters. If her opponent Pent lives through that, Meredy shouldn’t fear. After all, with her Technical Ring, she can halve magic damage while still having her pet Quickie attack; and Quickie can attack so far offscreen that Meredy may even get to wait outside counter range. Those attacks may be weak, but with Destiny doing most the work and Pent’s low defense and HP, they’ll add up quickly. And did I mention that Meredy has a deep reservoir of almost full healing and good magic defense against someone with rather lackluster magic damage?

After having lost to that monkey brat in his last entry, one would think that the guy would have gone mad with infuriation, but the Mage General of Etruria is as calm and prepared as ever. Pent will do as he always does; defeat the enemy and impress anyone who happens to be watching with his powerful and destructive skills with magic. A trusty Anima tome is all one needs to defeat an enemy. Why, just ask Pent's ever studious pupil Erk, who's just recently champed! Now it's Pent's turn to obtain a championship. This girl, Meredy, believes her magic can match the Mage General's powers? By all means, she can try, but Pent wasn't given the title of Sage for nothing. Whatever Meredy attempts to throw at him, Pent will simply counter immediately with his own powerful magical damage, keeping her heal-locked. Would you expect anything less from the Mage General?

Quickie is quite the strange creature. An avid biologist might wonder where such a thing sleeps? How does it mate? What does it eat?

Of course, after this last match, Pent can at least answer that last question: Silver string. Unfortunately for Pent, his hair quite resembles the object of Quickie’s consumption. Trying to fight off a ravenous beast, even a small one, is quite difficult when you are also trying to protect yourself from skin burning spells. Of course, Pent chose to protect his locks. After all, dueling seasons come around all the time, but beautiful hair like his must be treasured.

Of course, Meredy later rewarded Quickie by setting him loose in Kuja’s powder room. Needless to say, Quickie had quite the large dinner.
