Season 50, Week 2
Vivi Ornitier
(Final Fantasy IX)

Black Mages. An Iconic symbol of the FF series. Vivi. The only true Black Mage with a canon name, who uses the famous design. Ok, symbolic crypticness aside, the little 9 year old magical nuker is back for more fun. With his powerful Flare spells and back up status, he should have no problem taking out Sheela, right? What, healing? Oh, Vivi has a little bit of his own way to deal with that, between his own healing through absorbing his own elemental magic, Drain for parasitic healing, or casting Osmose to mess with his opponent's MP and run her out of precious resources even faster! Yes, our little blue coated one has all the tricks he needs to win this fight!

The power of the master monk is not something to be trifled with, and Sheela's mix of martial arts and magic is sure to get her far this time around in the arena. And against a squishy little wizard boy, her might will do quite a number, indeed. While Vivi has a versatile bevy of offensive spells, he certainly lacks the speed and durability to handle more than a single assault from Sheela. More importantly, if he actually gets a spell off, Sheela can just make use of her handy healing techniques to get back in top shape. All in all, Vivi would be foolish to try and overpower the master monk - after all, her long-standing training certainly wasn't made to be trumped by little kids.

Vivi's a smart lad. He's learned well not only from his own successes and failures, but that of his friends. Zidane's repeated and brutal curb stompings for perverted behavior and general problem causing has ingrained in him the habit of fighting in as much a straightforward fashion as possible. Sheela's skimpy outfit and attempts at pantyshotting and other fanservicey attempts to distract Vivi did nothing, to her shock. The little black mage ran her out of MP and slowly ground her to dust with attack and status spells, proving yet again that he was really the brains of the outfit in his cast.
