Season 56, Week 3
Lyon
(Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones)

So the little Jupiter Adept thinks he can play mindgames with the prince of Grado, does he? Let him think what he will, Lyon knows that there is only one thing that matters in this world. Pure power. And would you look at that, Lyon's dark tome Naglfar is more powerful by far then anything Ivan has at all. It should take no more then one or two invocations of this magic to sweep this little pest under the rug for good. What's more, with the ability to counter any spell Ivan casts, Lyon barely needs to think about attacking at all. Just let the bug come to him to be squished. If Ivan has any sense of self preservation, he'll simply stay home and give up on his championship dreams, while letting the possessed prince dominate Middle once again.

Mental prisons are the hardest to escape. Lyon's soul has long been jailed by the Demon King's curse, rendering him vulnerable to mind control, and Ivan's psychic powers are perfectly geared towards exploiting that. Long since able to read minds, Ivan's powers have grown exponentially while travelling with Isaac and friends. All Ivan needs to do is nudge Lyon's mind ever so slightly - if he can purge the demon's king control, it should be easy as pie to take advantage of the prince's gratitude and get a quick win in the meanwhile. Ethical? Fair? Just? Nope! Ivan's not so concerned about that, as he has waited over fifty seasons for a single win. He doesn't want to wait another fifty for a chance at another victory.

Gatewalker
Lyon had this match in the bag for one simple reason. Because he's just flat out stronger? Well, he is, but that's not the reason. Because he has more fans? Well that helps, but also not quite it. Because he's bishier? That's possibly the source of those extra fans, but not really helping in a fight.

No, he wins this match because Ivan beat Opera last round. And the laws of the universe state that it is not possible for that woman to avoid a downgrade pool.
