Season 22, Week 1
Eiko Carol
(Final Fantasy IX)

Most little girls are known for their cuteness, but Eiko’s not here to look adorable; she's here to whip some ass! Coming off a 16 season wait after her heartbreaking loss to Philia, Eiko’s ready to use her summons to destroy all that stand before her. And her first unfortunate victim is Lo Wen, a petty mountain bandit. For a great magician such as Eiko, this should be an easy test of her superior abilities. All she needs to do is throw a few summons or Holy spells the way of her opponent, and the battle will end soon enough. Watch out Middle, because Eiko is going to make a dent in this season!

The last time one of the Lampdragon Bandits got in, he smashed Light, won a championship, and upgraded to Middle (just ignore the immediate downgrade). Lo Wen is determined to repeat her brother's run, and she's not shy about cracking a few kids' head in order to do this. And crack heads she will, for while Eiko may be an accomplished White Mage, there's not a whole lot the poor girl can do once Lo Wen raises her Water Rune and seals her opponent's magic with Silent Lake. All too easy, as they say. If her other matches are like this, winning championships will soon be a family tradition.

Lance
Eiko is one of the most useful characters in FF IX, able to heal effectively, cast the all-powerful Holy, throw all kinds of status spells around, and outlast just about any opponent with her healing game. Also, when she enters a Trance, she can cast two magic spells at once, making her even more dangerous!

...all of which means diddly-squat once Lo Wen hits her with Silent Lake. Eiko can't win this match without her white magic... oh, but wait! She still has her summoni -- er... no, Silent Lake disables that too. What does that leave her with then? A staff shaped like a tiger's paw and unimpressive defenses? Eiko's only chance would be to cast Berserk on herself before Lo Wen can hit her with Silent Lake and then just whack her opponent to death. Then again, with her ho-hum speed, it's doubtful she'll be able to act before Lo Wen....

Aw, screw it. I can't think of any logical scenarios where Eiko doesn't lose. You win, Suiko-scrub.

Lo Wen: 35

Ouch, Eiko finally gets in, only to face Lo Wen, who has Silent Lake.

DYY
Eiko can litterally pack a whallop when she summons a very powerful Aeon such as Bahamut!
