Following last week's win, Alma now has a 2/2 lifetime record against Chrono Trigger, but her string of perfection is quickly being put to the test. Lucca's not as complex a dueller as Marle (which is very odd, given the nature of the CT pair's respective personalities!) so Alma can adopt a simple plan: wear her Ribbon to guard statuses, cast MBarrier, then outslug the much slower, less durable Lucca, her Ultima to the inventor's Flare.

Lucca's up against some stiff competition in Alma, this time. Lucca's most useful status attacks, Sleep from Hypno Wave and Chaos from Shockwave, are stopped by Alma's Ribbon, leaving this a battle of heavy spells against one another. Fortunately for Lucca, she can force her opponent to resort to said low HP Ribbon, or fear some unpleasant statuses. Unfortunately for Lucca, Alma still has MBarrier to boost her defenses. Lucca will have to hope her high-powered Flare spell can blast Alma before she's toasted by her opponent's Ultima spells...

MeepleLard
Lucca spent the whole few nights figuring out a strategy to baet Alma, and she fINALLY had one.
Little did Lucca know, Alma had the help of all of Ivalice to come up with a counter strategy, and mind you, as good as Lucca is, she can't match the mines of an entire country...
When Lucca entered, she waited for her Opponent to do something. Imagine her suprise when Alma grabbed the Virgo Stone nad transformed into Altima before Lucca's very eyes and destroyed her MP. Now, Lucca is too smart to fall for such a trick...or rather, she's too smart to fight a big Red Angel who is about to rip her int 2, so, she honorably steps down.

It's unfortunate, but a quick look at Alma's stats reveals that she has enough MP to either cast Mbarrier or a string of Ultimas, not both. So she could have Shell, Haste, and Reraise while she attacks with a staff, or she can try to outdamage Lucca without these advantages. CT Flare >> FFT Ultima, anyday.
