The fastest generic in the world returns to the battlefield in order to win glory and power from the arena that once denied him his rightful accolades! While going toe-to-toe with Antenora so long ago may have been a poor idea, Ninja should have much better luck against Mareg! The beastman is woefully sluggish, which will let Ninja work his magical Fast prowess much more easily. And, in spite of his hulking exterior and fearsome bardiche, Mareg actually isn't particularly powerful - his halberd swipes are about as damaging as Ninja's unbuffed attacks. As such, Ninja can easily handle this boring foe and reclaim his honor, securing a place in the quarterfinals in the name of all generics everywhere! |

Despite his gruff appearance, the noble beastman Mareg is far from a berserker. His bardiche strokes are measured and deliberate, his pacing slow but sure, his sluggishness compensated by considerable power. Against most ninjas, such a fighting style is asking for a swift defeat, but the original Ninja, from the original Final Fantasy, is not the same style of fighter as his decendants. No, this Ninja emphasizes variety, counting on his spells to enhance his fighting prowess and make him a deadly competitor. Mareg, however, has no trouble against that style. While Ninja is buffing himself, Beast-King Smash will break him in two, and even with his superior speed Ninja has no hope of finishing Mareg before he succumbs. |
Taishyr The match between Ninja and Mareg was proceeding just as expected; the two warriors traded blows back and forth, swiping at each other cautiously as they tried to judge relative skill. And then the lipstick came down from the heavens. Both Ninja and Mareg stopped and turned to the bordering Arena, as screams and yells were heard. "That was Zophar and Diekbeck, right?" Mareg asked simply. "Yeah, seems like it." Ninja replied, looking out toward the horizon before getting hit on the head by a stick of Crimson Radish. Mareg raised a hand to stop the falling lipstick, before shaking his head. "This is far too weird. You can take the win, I'm going home." Without another word, he turned and left, leaving a dazed Ninja the winner. Ninja: 38 |
