As far as facing down Demons or angry ladies goes, Roland would prefer the cannibalistic monsters any day. But you can't help who you fight in a duel, so he'll just have to deal with it. He's not going to have much to fear from Paine, offensively, since he can fully heal quite cheaply and easily. Ziodyne, among other things, will do quite a number on Paine's HP. And since really all Paine has is Assault and some other Dark Knight things, Roland should do quite nicely. A few Ziodynes here, a few Diaramas there, Roland should have this all wrapped up nice and quick. Which, of course, is probably the best way to handle issues with girls in the first place.

A guy that changes into a man-eating demon...huh. Well, come to think of it, this isn't that different from the men back home as far as Paine's concerned. Roland might look fearsome in his demonic form, but he's still more of a poet than a warrior and while he's durable and has some spellcasting prowess, magic is not his true forte. In the end he's an ineffective fighter, little match for the seasoned Paine or the power of Dress Spheres. Whatever route Paine takes here, she has little to fear from Roland's assaults or any healing he might employ, and will easily smash him with the disdain any true warrior should have for an ineffectual sod like Roland.

Roland blinked blearily at his opponent, as he swayed slightly on his feet.
"...I'm...seeing a woman dressed up in bondage gear. Right?" Roland asked Cielo.
"Ya, mon." Cielo nodded.
"But she doesn't have a whip."
"Actually...I hear that depends on which judges ya ask." Cielo answered.
"...Which...judges you ask." "Ya."
"...Does anything else about her depend on that?"
"Well, ya, some allow her to come in the arena dressed up like a big green Tonberry 'ting."
"...is...that so..." Roland chuckled, and turned to leave.
"Hey, mon, where'ya goin'?" Cielo called after him.
"I swear, they must have doubled the proof in my whiskey or something." Roland mumbled to himself. "I'm never drinking the night before a match ever again. This all seemed so normal up until this. But this? I've seen some weird things, but this has to be a hallucination." He said to himself, as he wandered off.
Paine, blissfully-or, at least, non-ragefully-unaware of the reasons, moved on to the next match.
It's fortunate indeed for Roland she didn't find out why he left.
