Season 49, Week 1
Sprigg
(Chrono Cross)

So it's a fight against a young whipper-snapper with those fancy little clothings and her perky transformation sequences, is it? Well then, it looks like old mama Sprigg is going to have to get out her underoos and go to battle against this dismal tide of youths! While Paine may think she has some sort of upper hand in this battle... she doesn't, no sirree! No matter what Paine can dish out, old Sprigg has seen it before in her travels. Don't try and trick this old lady, she'll see right through it! If Paine tries any weird moves on her, Sprigg will simply take on the form of a fearsome dragon or other monster and gobble up the young'n! No matter how you look at it, Sprigg's crusty tenacity that's been around since before they had records will get her through this! (You see, she's old.)

There are few things Paine would rather do than play dressup in the middle of a battle to the cheap soon-to-be-resurrected death. It doesn't really pay very well, everyone takes it way too seriously, and god knows what some of those guys are thinking during it all. But if she has to, at least her opponent is someone she can demolish in no time flat. Sure, Sprigg's got a lot of forms to choose from, a huge skillset that dwarfs the rest of her exceedingly large cast put together, but the lot of them are still random monsters from Chrono Cross. Turning from an old woman into a monster does pretty much nothing for Sprigg's durability, meaning she's got all the staying power of wet tissue. Whatever strategy Paine chooses, it'll all be over before you can say "disasterriffic"!

Taishyr
Look, we could explain the giant jellyfish appearing during the middle of the battle.
We could elaborate on Paine and Sprigg transforming into a super-old woman with metal wings and arms to fight it.
There's a perfectly ration explanation for the Tantalus airship ramming into both at high speeds, too.
But we just can't explain why Magical Princess Ghaleon appeared singing on top of the ship immediately afterward.
And the explanation for why Paine won would require a doctoral thesis and likely feature three mentions of Brahne so we'll omit that, too.

Sprigg: 11
Paine: 35

On one side, you have an ugly old lady who has the amazing ability to change forms. On the other side, you have a beautiful young woman with the amazing ability to change clothes.

Luckily for Sprigg, it had been randomly decided that whoever has the coolest ability wins the battle. Even more lucky for her, the entire judging panel consisted of males which wouldn't be interested in clothes dressing and try-outs: Sprigg knew that it was impossible to bring one of them for even a few short hours in a clothing store. Transforming into various, awe-inspiring beasts would land her an easy victory. The judges were impressed and found it "cool", although a few commented that her ugliest form is her real one.

Unluckily for her, it turns out that the judges, while indeed not interested at all by Paine's dressing up skills, were actually very interested in the dressing down that happened during the switches. After asking Paine to switch costumes a few dozens of times, the drolling judges awarded her an unanimous victory.
