Week 1 - Eliminations
Orlandu, Cidolfas vs Rolf Landale
Meeplelard
As strong as Megid is, as ubered as it gets from Rolf's Anger, which is high itself, for all that its legendary might has...its completely useless if said character lacks the neccessary 55 TP to use it, which is exactly the situation Rolf finds himself in after eating a Dark Sword from the not so dark Excalibur.
Orlandu, Cidolfas: 26
Rolf Landale: 4
Barubary vs Lynx
OblivionKnight
Does it even matter that Barubary is a strong fighter? Does it really matter that he's a powerful demonic servant of a false god? No. All he needed to finish this match was live up to his name as "Nightmare Demon", and infest Lynx's dreams with nightmares. Five nights of reliving his stint as Serge, Lynx entered an asylum, effectively forfeiting the match.
Barubary: 16
Lynx: 10
Yuna vs Daos
Eternalspirit
"Buahahahahaha! Go ahead and hit me, frail girl! You'll never defeat me!"
"For the sake of Spira, you shall fall!"
And with that, Yuna toasted Daos with Holy, splattering his remains all around the ground.
"HAHAHAHA! I told you that you couldn't kill me!"
"Wha..!? How are you still alive?"
Daos just appeared out of nowhere, still laughing.
"Ahaha, I am INVINCIBLE!"
"Not for long! Holy!"
Daos' remains fell to the ground once more, on top of what was already there. Maniacal laughter could be heard again, and Daos just re-appeared.
"Darn, why won't you DIE!?"
"Hey, wait a minute!" Maxim's voice called out from the stands. "He's using the fact that Erim keeps all the Sinistrals immortal to try and defeat you! Isn't that outside interference?"
"DAH! YOU AGAIN! Trying to interfere with my.. DYAAA!"
Daos was being forced out of the arena as he indeed was using outside interference as a means of winning, while Yuna simply breathed a sigh of relief and went off to prepare for her next match.
Yuna: 18
Daos: 16
Vigoro vs Ash Lambert
superaielman
Ash is a sick fighter. Insane power, infinite healing, and the like.
Vigoro has.. charm! Which won't work on Ash. And he'll be forced to eat a counter, each time he attacks.
...Better luck to Vigoro next time.
Vigoro: 4
Ash Lambert: 12
Maru vs Jr.
Strago
Yes, Maru's cheery exuberance can occassionally tread the border between "cute" and "obnoxious." It must be admitted, though, that he never quite o'erleaps those territories into the realm of "utterly inane." After only three minutes of listening to Gaignun Kukai, Jr. shout "Sayonara baby" while twirling his pistols in a narcissan display of flair and self-adoration, Maru did what many spectators thought to be impossible: shot an arrow into his own head.
Maru: 7
Jr.: 11
Cecilia Lyne Adelhyde vs Auron
Hunter Sopko
This is a pretty sad tale for Auron, but it must be told, of how a mage wins a match with a physical. Auron's First Strike hits hard, but it isn't enough to fell the Adlehyde Princess. She then casts Prison, and next, for the finishing blow, she uses her physical to shatter the Prison. Auron, you poor poor man.
Cecilia Lyne Adelhyde: 22
Auron: 9
DragoonJay
Remember how Cecelia had her hair cut in order to be inconspicuous when she went off adventuring? Well, she's in due for a trimming, and Auron is more than happy to volunteer.
Of course, his definition of "a little off the top" may be a bit too much for Cecelia's liking.
MepMep
To me Magic Break will stop prison from working so I'm giving it to him... as prison isn't in FFX it's hard to say really.
Princess Toadstool vs Freya Crescent
DragoonJay
Princess Toadstool looked over her schedule. "Hmm... I have to be captured by Bowser at 3, rescued by Mario by 6, then there's that dress-fitting that I've been putting off for a while... where am I going to find the time to compete?"
"Your Majesty wouldn't need a dress-fitting if she would quit eating all those donuts between tennis matches," the loyal retainer Toad said under his breath as he walked to the throne.
"Did you say something, Toad?" murmured Peach, reaching ominously for her frying pan.
"N-no, your Majesty. I mean, yes your Majesty. Er, I mean... please don't hurt me."
Sighing, Toadstool returned to her schedule. "I think we might be able to fit in a few minutes on Wednesday... no, wait, that's my judo class."
Princess Toadstool: 16
Freya Crescent: 17
Lawfer vs Tidus
El Cideon
Upon learning that he was scheduled to battle a physically immune opponent, Lawfer did what any sane dueler would do: not show up. And, the next day, file a joint lawsuit with Demi, Lin, and Ramladu against the DL's scheduling committee.
Lawfer: 3
Tidus: 34
Tylor H
Lawfer has bested hordes of demonic entities, felled nine kinds of elder vampires, faced gods and came out victorious, and even managed to face the eldritch horror know as hamsters and survive. But never has he had the nerve to face a jock before, and with good reason. This week he goes against common sense and faces the star player of the Zanarkand Abes. And Tidus, with his nimble athlete's reflexes and his Evade & Counter weapon, is not only unhittable, but he smacks Lawfer to boot each time the Einherjar fails to land a blow. Indeed, after this impending humiliation, Lawfer will well and truly learn, leave the jocks alone and stick to beating down gods.
Eternalspirit
"I stake everything.."
"SHUT UP!"
"Darn it! I stake everything on this.."
"QUIET YOU!"
"What's your problem!?!?! I stake everything on this single.."
"DAMMIT, MUST I KEEP TELLING YOU TO SHUTUP!"
"AHHH!! I stake.."
"Shut UP ALREADY!"
"WHAAA! MOMMY! HE KEEPS TELLING ME TO SHUTUP! *runs out of the arena*"
"Man, finall.. wha? Where's Lawfer? Am I not fighting him?"
Apparently, on a rare occassion, Tidus was too busy telling his fans to shutup, as they were interfering with his concentration, not noticing that Lawfer was trying to do his PWS. Apparently, Lawfer became very sensitive to this after a while, and ran out of the arena. Regardless, Tidus wins by default.
Starphoenix das Helpoemer
Lawfer, being one of the most lethal Einherjhar for the Valkyrie Lenneth, should put up an awesome challenge for Tidus.
Should being the operative word here.
With average speed, Lawfer fails to beat out Tidus for first attack. And by casting Haste and Slow, Tidus increases the gap between the two even greater. Throw in Quick Attack, and Tidus has all day to smash Lawfer into itty bitty pieces.
But what about Justice Stream?
What about it? Considering that Lawfer needs to actually hit Tidus to even gain the attack to pull it off, it just doesn't seem all that likely. And even if he does get off enough attack phases, there's still Evade and Counter.
Poor poor Lawfer. First you die, then you die again.
Meeplelard
For all that Lawfer is stronger. For all that Justice Stream may be >>> Blitz Ace. For all that Lawfer can take hits better, both Magically and Physically...it doesn't mean a damn thing when your opponent has Evade and Counter.
Rutee Katrea vs Nina Wyndia
Infinity Dragon
Nina was lucky. She managed to cast Death before Rutee could Silence her, and Mr. Murphey and his wonderful law didn't shaft her Death spell. Ah Death, so effective, so cheap, so...boring.
Rutee Katrea: 12
Nina Wyndia: 14
Genocide Heart
:Rutee, meet Nina. Nina, meet Silence. Nina, meet the business end of Rutee's Atwight. NEXT!
Sania vs Cador
OK of Solaris
Man, have you seen Sania? She is...like...so hot! I mean, Cador has the Death Knight badassitude going for him, but Sania has boobs. Boobs man, boobs! Mmmmm....big, beautiful...uh, victory! Yes! Sania for Middle champ!
Sania: 9
Cador: 8
Bart Fatima vs Crowley
Grefter
Bart went into the ring trading blow for blow with Crowley strongly wondering why he could not take down this mage as they are normally rather fragile. Now normally a duellist will do some research into his opponent, however Bart lacks both the insight and the intellect to do so. The only way Bart stands a chance at living past the second or so Shining Wind is if Crowley decides to toy with his pathetic opponent and cast Healing Winds on him to further mock this fool. When it comes down to it Crowley may have 100 runes on him, but he only needs one to make short work of Bart Fatima.
Bart Fatima: 4
Crowley: 28
Kanon vs Mareg
ObvilionKnight
Speed over power? The story of the Tortoise and the hare would have us think Mareg wins slowly and surely. Too bad this isn't, you know, a fairy tale - in a real fight speed kills. In this case, it kills Mareg.
Kanon: 17
Mareg: 8
Virginia Maxwell vs Celine Jules
superaielman
Celine looked over at her opponent, and sheered. A child with toy guns. Falling into her magic, Celine summoned one of her many deadly spells. She felt a few minor wounds from the child's guns, but that was nothing for her to worry about.
"SOUTHERN CROSS!"
Celine's arms flared wide, and the arena turned black. Bright stars fell from the now black ceiling, landing on the young drifter.
A huge explosion ripped through Virginia, obviously wounding her. But as the dust cleared, she was still standing with a determined look on her face.
"Flash isn't everything, you know, but...." Virginia cocked her guns, and unloaded a full galting into Celine. While Virginia's explosion wasn't as flashy, it did what Celine's magic couldn't do- earn a win.
Virginia Maxwell: 21
Celine Jules: 4
Jean vs Chisato Madison
Eternalspirit
Both fighters stepped onto the arena confident about their chances at victory. Jean was undoubtedly going to open with his Death spell, while Chisato would most likely turn to her Killer Moves. Just before the signal for the match to begin was made, the sound of a ring tone was heard. It's source - Chisato Madison.
"What!?!?! There's a battle going on with Iseria Queen involved!? The same one that Claude and our party faced a while ago!? And Lloyd and Sephiroth are in on it as well!? I CAN'T miss this!"
And with that, Chisato bolted out of the arena in a heartbeat, totally forgetting about her match. It wasn't until the next day that she realized she was disqualified by default for leaving the arena.
Jean: 17
Chisato Madison: 16
Nephrite
Instant Death < Chisato.
Meeplelard
Unfortunatly for Chisato, Jean, being French, is far too sophisticated to fall for any of her potential tricks. That, or Jean's just too dimwitted to understand them, is busy thinking of himself, finally gets hit with some Tear Gas, and in response, casts Death on Chisato, and kills her, then sends her many gifts while she's in the hospital for accidently killing her as a way of apoligizing...
Either way, he'll win.
Gwyn vs Aguro
superaielman
Gwyn can lower Aguro's attack. So freaking what? He has -no- damage to back up his status attacks, and his HP and defense are pitful. Aguro can easily withstand the stat downs, and take home a win.
Gwyn: 9
Aguro: 15
Meeplelard
Alright, lets look at ONE fact. Aguro is a well trained, battle hardened, experienced young (by his opponents standards) Soldier. Gwyn is a weak, brittle, archaelogist, old man. Don't think I need to say more?
Miluda Folles vs Reis Dular
Starphoenix das Helpoemer
Miluda going up against Reis is sort of like David Vs. Goliath.
Just that no one bothered to tell Reis that Goliath was supposed to lose. And as such, she literally breathed on Miluda, killing her on impact.
It could've been worse, Miluda could've been schooled by a shopping bag.
Miluda Folles: 13
Reis Dular: 27
metroid composite
I've heard of two distinct ways to interpret Miluda. A Chapter 4 Knight with a couple of bonus skills, or a scaled up Chapter 1 Knight. In the former case, Miluda tweaks her equippment to halve Reis' breaths, and evade her attacks. In the latter case...well Kights in Chapter 1 kinda qualify as Heavy, especially when you put them into a duel where range and movement don't matter so much. Either way Reis is toast.
Eternalspirit
"So, Reis, you've decided to come into this match as a dragon afterall! No matter, I shall defend the honor of commoners everywhere from you nobles!" "ROAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" "AHHHHHHHH!!! MOMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *runs out of the arena*"
Lloyd's Final Folly
Sephiroth/Fou-lu/Ryu vs. Iseria Queen
~Excal/ES
Fenris
Unless Iseria can somehow manage to take down the Infinity Dragon in one attack, Fou-Lu and friends should be able to pull this off. The Infinity regenerates its HP to full at the end of every round. I think it can survive the first round against Iseria. Unfortunately for the Queen, Infinity can treat every round as if it was the first.
Sephiroth, Fou-lu and Ryu: 20
Iseria Queen: 15
Infinity Dragon
Sure, Iseria Queen is frighteningly powerful and can smoke entire parties with a single Cosmic Spear. That won't do much once Fou Lu and Ryu merge into Infini and Sephiroth casts Wall on the fusion. Infini laughs at even Empress Massacre and fully regenerates his HP every round. Iseria eventually falls to a slew of Dark Waves.
Genocide Heart
Just for the record, I agree with Niu claiming that Iseria is the same in all Enix games. SO3 proved it anyway. Which means the VP form applies, and Empress Massacre equals OHKO on each and every one of the three opponents. Whereas they... can't KO her fast enough.
Semifinal
The only hope for Sephiroth, Ryu, and the great Fou-Lu is for Fou-Lu to absorb Ryu and become complete. Of course, Fou-Lu should try to wear Iseria down with his Tyrant and Astral forms, first. After that, the awesome power and healing abilities of the Infinity.
And even then, to defeat Iseria Queen what they'll need is a little energon and a lot of luck.
Eternalspirit
"Hah! To think that the three of you could possibly defeat me. I have made short work of the best of them, and you three will be no exception! HAH!"
And with that, Iseria launched herself forward, obviously confident of her victory over Fou-Lu, Sephiroth, Ryu, and shortly after, the rest of the world.
Sephiroth could see that Iseria was charging after him first, so he quickly cast his wall spell to try and stop her attack. Unfortunately, it did no good, as Sephiroth fell to the ground after an impact with Iseria's blade.
"So, can you see there's no point in resisting yet? Surrender now, and I'll make sure your deaths are swift and painless!"
"Indeed, thy power is vast, but can thou destroy the likes of two Gods? Prepare thyself!"
"!!!!!"
With that, Fou-Lu materialized his Royal Sword while Ryu strengthened his grip on the Dragon Blade.
"FOOLS!"
All three of the fighters lept at each other, Ryu and Fou-Lu's swords both meeting Iseria's, but the force of the blow, combined with Iseria's vast strength, simply pushed both Ryu and Fou-Lu to the ground.
At that moment, chanting could be heard from behind Iseria - Sephiroth was casting his Super Nova spell .
"Hmph, go ahead and hit me with whatever you've got, and I'll prove to you that I am invincible!"
Shortly after that outburst, the arena turned spacelike as a giant asteroid plowed it's way towards their location, blowing through several planets on the way there. But even using this spell, Iseria could not even be scratched, as she merely stopped the asteroid with her mental powers alone, and using her immense power, ripped right through it with her sword.
"Will you fools finally surrender? I cannot be defeated!"
"Dammit.. how.. did she block that spell.."
"It appears this be the end.."
"Lloyd! I'm going to kill you for.. wait.. where's Lloyd?"
Iseria looked around for his body, but couldn't see him anywhere.
"HAH! So he thinks he can run away! Fool! I'll find him after I'm done with you three!"
--- Down in the Central Sector of Sheltar, the underground world of this planet, the Regents were discussing a deep disturbance that they felt occuring in the world above them.
"This feels like a force even greater than that of Odjn's little "host".." said Jazuit.
"Indeed, but the question is, should we interfere? There may be a chance that this will not affect us at all, and when have we cared about outside issues?" questioned Cupid.
"Hmm, this is true, but suppose this force came down to attack us.. I can already feel a struggle going on up there, if we help those people out, perhaps with their aid, we can eliminate this disturbance? What say you Elyon?" asked Deamoned.
"Hmm.. perhaps it would be best to simply investigate the situation. From that point we can decide whether to involve ourselves or not," said Elyon. "I will go myself."
Meanwhile, back at the intense battle, Fou-Lu, Ryu, and Sephiroth all tried their hardest to defeat Iseria, but Iseria, simply toying with them, just knocked them all back.
"T'would appear that thou hath won in this battle, evil queen. Why hath thou not killed us yet?"
"This has become quite fun, I have found it rather enjoyable to toy with my victims before destroying them. But perhaps this should come to an end. HAH!"
Iseria lept at Fou-Lu, but was stopped by the blade of.. Lloyd?
"Huh? What's this?"
"LLOYD! Where the hell were you?"
Lloyd, without saying anything, took his advantage of surprise and knocked Iseria's blade out of her hands, then impaled her.
"Apparently, I was an idiot to summon this demon, so I've come to help you guys out."
"Heh.. I was defeated once before.. but it took more than a simple stab to do it.."
Iseria simply grabbed the hilt of the blade, pulled it right out of her, and threw it, blade first, at Lloyd, impaling his leg. Lloyd quickly fell to the ground in pain.
"HAHAHA! Can you see now? I cannot be.. DYAHH!!"
Iseria whinced in pain as she was sent flying forwards ten feet from the massive impact of Elyon's fist.
"This world, my dear queen, does not have enough room for the likes of you."
"Dah! Who the hell are you? I'm going to destroy you for interrupting my fun!"
Iseria lept to her feet and dashed right at Elyon.
"I am the High Regent Elyon, and I guarantee that you will not defeat me. Alter Ego!"
At those words, 2 clones of Elyon instantly appeared at either side of him, throwing Iseria off guard in mid charge.
"Whaaa? How did you do that? BAH! I'll destroy them too!"
"Try it."
A fierce battle ensued. Iseria and Elyon ended up matching up quite equally in strength and determination, Iseria knocking out clones as fast as Elyon was able to create them, while Elyon himself contributed offense via his Valhalla spells.
"Ryu.. it appears Elyon.. cannot defeat this demon on his own.. shall we.. become one.. once again?" Fou-Lu had obviously been tired out from all this fighting.
"... *nods*"
Fou-Lu groggily got up, while Ryu needed his sword to balance his weight.
"Ready?"
"*nods*"
It took a little extra effort than the previous attempt at this, but after a couple minutes of concentrating while the fierce battle between Elyon and Iseria continued, Fou-Lu and Ryu merged.
".. what.. just happened?" a startled Lloyd asked.
"Our one hope just happened, Lloyd."
"Indeed, 'tis time to show this evil being the true meaning of power. HYAT!"
Both Elyon and Iseria turned around and stopped dead in their tracks as a massive amount of energy started mounting near them, the trademark signal of a dragon transformation occuring. The first thing Iseria noticed was that Ryu was missing.
"Where is the other guy?"
"Those two fused, queen bitch.." said Sephiroth. "Now it's your turn to feel pain! C'mon Lloyd, let's clear this area."
"Right."
Just as they went for cover, the transformation had completed, and the Infinity Dragon emerged. It gave a massive roar as Iseria and Elyon looked on.
"Such immense power.. I suppose this is to be expected from a God," said Elyon.
"No! This can't be happening! Finally free from eons of bondage, to be defeated by these powerless fools! No! I don't accept this!"
"Accept it. Just as I had to.." Elyon reminisced as he remembered his defeat to Wyrm.
Infinity stormed forward and launched his massive arm in Iseria's direction. Iseria, being the immensely powerful being she was, blocked it, but with difficulty. She may have been able to handle either Elyon or Infinity alone, but together, she stood no chance.
"Prepare for your demise."
Elyon charged forward and landed a direct hit with Pentra Strike.
"Arghh.. NOW I SHALL END THIS!"
".. what is this?"
Elyon looked on, slightly taken aback. Infinity also stood his ground.
"HAHAHAHA! NOW WITNESS MY TRUE POWER!!"
The battle seemed to greatly tip in favor towards Infinity and Elyon, but with this immense power increase for Iseria, the battle was far from over. It raged on, completely leveling the scenery. Eventually, after the dust cleared, the victor ended up being..
