Now here's Chisato to take you Behind the Scenes!
Another season, another show. Welcome one and all to another edition of...of...um...
Guys? Ultros? Morte? Chisato?
.........Odin?
Why am I the only one here? Did I miss a memo somewhere?
Crap. Well, looks like I'm doing the show myself today. So...
Welcome one and all to another edition of Behind the Scenes, where we interview all of your favorite duelers before their fights. Or at least the ones we can afford to book. Starting with Godlike, let's give a warm welcome to our recently upgraded Heavy champion and his opponent, the one and only Magic Emperor!
Hi.
Greetings.
So Claude, welcome to Godlike kid.
I believe that's my line.
Tch. Jerk.
Heh. Anyway, we all know how your first match is going to go, but what kind of future do you see for yourself in this division?
Not too bad, if I can avoid overpowered final bosses.
Ah, but what's the fun in that?
You know, one of these days you're going to run into a PC who manages to punch right through that barrier and beat the stuffing out of you before you can stop him.
You mean besides Yuri? Well honestly, I look forward to that happening.
Really?
Oh yes. We can always use more competition up in the higher range of Godlike. At this point, losing a match and discovering a new contender at our level is more enjoyable then just stamping out the weaklings over and over.
Huh. Well, thanks for the insight into the minds of the all powerful, Ghaleon.
Of course.
Hey, Gil, why are you running solo today, anyway? Where's Chisato?
Wish I knew. Well, she's probably skipping work to play Star Ocean: Second Evolution. No clue on everyone else.
Hey! If I don't get to skip work to play that, neither does she!
Like she's interested in little things like being fair. Hey, I could use a hand here though. You guys mind filling in?
Sure, why not.
I have prior appointments. I'll leave you gentlemen to your work.
Alright. Claude, call in the Heavies, will you?
Sure thing. So says here that we've got Cristo and Jack on the ticket.
Come on, this is showbiz. A little more flair then that.
Oh. Uh, okay. So, let's welcome the original self repairing meat shield and the fastest sword in the east, west or any other direction, Cristo and Jack!
That's more like it, kid.
I say, meat shield?
It fits. Your job description is basically 'stand there and take hits from the princess'.
I take hits FOR the princess!
That too.
Anyway, on the subject of remakes, you've both had one for your games as well, haven't you?
Oh yes, and aside from a few decisions on the accents, I couldn't be happier with ours.
Really? So you like the name Kiryl then?
That was my idea, actually. Brey's friends kept calling me Crisco. Was getting on my nerves a bit. So I thought about Cristoph and Christian and a few other good names like that, but eventually decided for something completely different.
I think it's kinda lame, myself. Anyway, Jack, how does Alter Code F hold up to the original Wild Arms?
Pretty good, overall. I'd say it's mostly better all around, though there's a few points where...well...it's not so much.
Oh, like what?
Well, Ceci wanted a bit more of a challenge, so she cut her own spell list back a lot. I'm not so sure that was a good move, though. And...well, I really phoned it in for my fast draws this time.
How's that?
I got lazy on the learning process. Just finding random swords with skills sealed inside? Sounded good at the time, but in retrospect, it was pretty half-assed after the effort I put into learning them in the original game.
Yeah, I can see that. Well, you guys are up against Zapdos and Presea, respectively. Any thoughts on your matches?
The bird's resources are far more finite then my own. I will simply outlast the beast.
The girl's pretty tough, and she hits like a truck. But I can run circles around her hopping on one leg. Too much of a speed gap, I'll get an early lead and she'll never catch up.
Well, good luck with that, guys.
Thank you.
Alright, later.
So that brings us to...ugh. Can we skip Middle?
Why would we want to do that?
I hate remembering that FFX-2 exists.
Oh. Well, I can handle Middle if you want?
Really? Thanks, kid. I'm gonna go grab some coffee, just buzz the break room when they're gone.
Uh, sure. So let's bring out the Gekkokan golden boy and the Gullwing's resident bruiser, Akihiko and Paine.
Hey.
So you work here now?
Not really. Gil was the only one who came in, so I stayed after my interview to help.
So where is that six armed freak anyway?
Uh, getting some coffee.
Caffeine addiction strikes again.
Do you drink a lot of coffee, Akihiko?
Me? I never touch the stuff. Water, some fruit juice, milk and the occasional powerade, is all I drink. I'm pretty picky about what I eat and drink.
Really? I thought you'd have one of those metabolisms like Rikku. That girl can eat five gallons of ice cream and lose weight. Pisses me off.
I know what you mean. She'll have some trouble when she gets older though, and doesn't know how to take care of her body right.
Anyway, Akihiko, you're up against Darc. He's seen as being a pretty strong Middle. Afraid of him at all?
Not really. He seems like a pure power fighter. No stamina. If he can't knock me down in the first couple rounds he won't manage it at all.
So you're confident, then?
I'd say so, yeah. I just have to turn it into an endurance game, set him up for a knock out punch when he's got nothing left. It's all about controlling the pace.
Sounds like a plan. How about you, Paine? Sprigg's supposed to be pretty tricky. You never know what she has up her sleeve.
Yeah, well, there's one thing about anything and anyone from Chrono Cross. They've all got an elemental weakness to hit. And I'm pretty good at targeting things like that.
Can we not talk about elemental weaknesses please?
What are you getting all worked up about? Want some help...cooling down?
Uh...thanks, I'll pass. Hey, I've got a class at the gym in five, so I'll just head out now. Bye.
That wasn't very nice.
It was funny though.
If you say so. Well, I'm going to move on to Light then.
Sure. I've got stuff to do anyway.
Alright. Uh, Gil, it's safe to come back now.
Great. So, that brings us to Light. Alright kid, do the honors.
Okay, so introducing our Light guests, the...um...well. Hmm. Uh. Sorry, I really can't think of anything fancy to call them out with.
Yeah, Light can do that to you. So, Tao and Anna, come on down!
Hello.
Hello.
Well, what have we here. Yet another guest who's had their game remade.
I think Chisato made this list while waiting for her copy of Second Evolution.
I'd rather not think about my remake, if that's alright.
Oh yeah, you mages got pretty badly nerfed in that, didn't you?
Yeah. Like I said, I'd rather not think about it.
So Anna, think with all of the games getting remakes these days that the Phantasy Star series will ever see any?
Well, Phatasy Star 2 did have one, actally. It just never made it out of Japan. I hope it does someday, though. I would love to have an actual personality. And maybe a background. That would be great.
It's the little things like that you don't really think to be glad you have until you meet someone who doesn't.
Alright, well, I'd ask about your matches but Light bores me to tears so instead you two get to help us clean the place up before we leave.
Why should we?
Free snacks from the break room?
That's an acceptable offer.
Sure, deal.
Just stay away from Chisato's chocolate almonds. She WILL hunt you down.
He's not joking. She'll track you to another planet for stealing those.
Hey Anna, I dare you to take the almonds.
I have no personality, not no brain.
Aww.
Alright, close us out kid.
Sure. Uh, on behalf of myself, Gilgamesh and the rest of the BtS crew who're all skipping work today, this is Claude Kenni, signing off!
